Goldin Farms

Magic Millions Yearling Sale Report

12 January 2016

The 2016 Australian yearling sales season has commenced on a very satisfactory note for Goldin Farms with both of the stud’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale lots being acquired for six-figure sums by very prominent international racing concerns.

The Goldin Farms draft consisted of colts by Testa Rossa and Sepoy catalogued as Lot 395 and Lot 491 respectively. Each youngster made $100,000 and both are now set to race in the distinctive colours of Group 1 winning connections.

Lot 395, the first foal of a Group-placed daughter of Ferocity, was sold to the China Horse Club. Arguably the most progressive concern in world thoroughbred racing and breeding, recent successes enjoyed by the China Horse Club include the Group 1 MRC Caulfield Guineas victory of Press Statement last October and the naming of standard-bearer Dissident as the Australian Horse of the Year of the 2014-15 racing season.

Lot 491, another first foal hailing from a black-type laden female family featuring the celebrated US racemare and producer De La Rose, was secured by Raffles Racing. Group 1 breeders and owners based in New Zealand, Raffles Racing’s distinctive colours have been carried by the likes of dual ATC Doncaster Handicap (G1) winner Sacred Falls, as well as 2015 Group 1 winners Sacred Star and Rock Diva.

Goldin Farms only other previous yearling sale consignment before last week’s Gold Coast renewal saw a son of Smart Missile fetch $220,000 when sold to trainer Tony McEvoy at the 2015 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.

The continuation of the 2016 Australian yearling sale series will see Goldin Farms present further quality drafts at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale and Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
